Bokor Hill Station
Bokor Hill Station was established by the French in the early 20th century. The French began construction of the road in 1917, completion of the road and opening of the grand colonial hotel, the Bokor Palace, was in 1925.

The French chose this place because of its cool climate at an altitude of 1080 meter. Perfect for a holiday away from the hot tropical plains of Cambodia.
Later Bokor Hill Station was abandoned and left in ruins.
The place has a special atmosphere and you can almost feel the history of it.

Recently, a local Cambodian company has received a lease to develop parts of Bokor National Park. Plans include the renovation of the ruined Bokor Palace Hotel and 2 villages each with 500 new holiday bungalows will be build on top of Bokor mountain. A casino (of course, this is Cambodia!) will also be build on top of the mountain. A new road to the top is also planned. Nobody seems to know for sure when exactly all this will start.

If you want to experience Bokor before the bulldozers you better visit soon.
